Barb Hone of the Arts Consortium of Carver County visited the May 16th FOMB Board meeting.  Barb introduced the board members to the wonderful barn quilt project they have in Carver County.  With a grant and the goal of introducing more people to public art in the form of barn quilts, 24 quilts were installed around Carver County.  Visit their website for information on the tour, quilts, and barns.  They also have a variety of barn quilt related items for sale to help raise funds, including a book about the Barn Quilts of Carver County.

Help save this unique silo!

The Almelund Threshing Company, a 501c3 non-profit located near Almelund, that works to keep agricultural heritage alive through an annual Threshing Show held on the show grounds on Highway 95 near Almelund, MN,  every August. The group recently started a crowdfunding site to save a 100-year old silo built from clear heart redwood. If this silo is not moved, it will need to be demolished. Currently, the goal is to raise $20,000 by the end of the year (12/31). This money will allow the group to dismantle, transport, and erect this silo on the show grounds, so that they will be able to preserve and share this silo with generations to come.
